The Drop
''What are you doing?' I whispered, as the bin with feet next to me, stumbled across the uneven grass.
'It's a hundred degrees in here and I can't see where I'm going.' A voice from the bin grizzled.
'That's factually impossible,' I said, shaking my head. 'I checked the temperature before we left. The ambient air is about thirty-nine degrees with zero expected precipitation.'
The bin groaned.
'Shhh,' I said out of the corner of my mouth. 'The eagle has landed.'
The feet beneath the bin, turned to face me. 'There's an eagle here?'
I sighed. 'The eagle is a code name.'
'Oh,' said the bin. 'So we can't say M-'
I shushed the bin extra hard. 'The eagle is entering the forest.'
'What forest?' asked the bin.
'The park,' I snapped. 'The eagle is in the park.' I pulled my cap over my forehead, attempting to hide my face as I watched the target wander into the park, its little amigo following closely behind.
'What's happening now,' asked the bin.
I ignored the petulant bin, keeping my eyes on the target.
'What about now?' the bin asked again.
'Shush,' I repeated for the tenth time.
Then, it happened. The little amigo was sniffing around. The drop was about to take place.
'It's happening,' I whispered to the bin. 'You know what to do.'
'Roger that,' said the bin as a small, black phone peeked out of the flap. Filming had begun.
'I'm going to get a closer look,' I said, hastily making my way over to the cover of a nearby fig tree. I looked casually over my shoulder. The target was watching me suspiciously. 'Shoot,' I muttered, hiding behind the tree trunk. I reached into my trouser pocket and pulled out a small rectangular mirror. Holding it low, I reached around the tree and watched as the target looked from the bin in the middle of the park, to the fig tree I was hiding behind.
I tilted the mirror. The drop had occurred. 'Smile for the camera,' I chuckled.
Then, as life would have it, the unexpected happened. From the depths of the targets pocket, she pulled out a small green bag.
'No,' I gasped. 'You wouldn't.'
With a smirk on her face, she retrieved the drop and walking to the closest bin, depositing it inside.
'Ahhhhh!!!' a high-pitched scream echoed around the trees as the bin grew legs, rose up and began running around the park.
I ran from my hiding spot, tripping over my feet.
'You nerds are so predictable,' Mila laughed.
'This isn't over,' I said, shaking my finger at my sister. 'We know what you two do at this park. Or rather, what Bella does, and you don't.'
'Prove it,' Mila sneered, while Bella, her dung depositing chihuahua yapped at my feet.
Before I could say anymore, the black bin containing our little brother, rolled down the grass in front of us.
'Alex!' Jack cried. 'I think the drop got in my mouth!'
